How long is the training program? The training is 3 weeks long. This training will prepare you to get a job as a Home Care Aide. It is not training to work as STNA or CNA.

When are the classes held? Classes are held from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm Monday through Friday. On-time attendance is mandatory. If you miss a class or come late, you cannot continue in the program. You must attend an open application session and be accepted in to the program prior to starting class. Open application sessions are every Monday and Thursday at 9:30 am at 1602 Madison (corner of Madison and Woodburn behind St. Francis de Sales School and Church)

Where are classes located? The classroom is located at 2601 Melrose Ave, in Cincinnati. This is at the corner of William Howard Taft and Melrose Ave. in Walnut Hills. It is on the bus line.

How many people are in the class? Approximately 10-14 students are chosen for each class.

Do I need a GED or high school diploma? No, but you do need to read at a certain level and do very basic math. You will complete a simple pre-test to assure you are at the proper level. If you need assistance, we have classes to help you.

How much does it cost? Scholarships are available based on household income. After scholarships, program fees are determined also by household income. Generally, out of pocket program fees will range between $100 and $150 with a $25 payment due on the first day of class. You must bring documentation of household income when applying for the program. This includes Child Support, SSI, Pension, Unemployment Benefits, HCJFS statement, Household verification form from HCJFS, Employment check stub (If paid weekly bring 4 stubs, If paid bi-weekly bring 2 stubs, If paid monthly bring 1 stub), Utility Check stub.

What are the qualifications? This program is for adults 19 years of age or older who are interested in helping others, serious about attending school, learning a new profession, and attaining employment upon graduating. Note: You cannot have certain criminal offenses and work in the health care field. Be honest during your interview so we can provide guidance. Applicants will be fingerprinted for a criminal background check and may be asked to submit to a drug screen at any time during class.

Do I need a uniform? Yes – the class uniform is scrubs.

Do you guarantee me a job after graduation? We guarantee employment for particularly qualified graduates. Our graduation and employment rates are extremely high for all students. We begin the process of assisting you into employment right away and continue even after graduation. Our workforce training team will provide guidance and coaching support to help you get and keep a job.

Do you provide child care or transportation? No. It is your responsibility to arrange for childcare (including a back-up plan) and transportation to insure you do not miss class. You may qualify for assistance with transportation.
